I know St Louis ... man that was tough to swallow ... 47 usually is rock solid .. but that was just dumb and the Van game .. holy smokes Bo just used Vats like a wet towel .. just manhandled Vats ... Vats is to small to be effective in front of the net ... Tonight who knows - no Shatty for the Caps but will that be enough ?? hopefully the Ducks can rally up and pull the W - |

Backman?
The Capitals are not a team that gets beat down. I wish it were true.
Way to bring the knowledge on the opponent. |

Gibson is out again. Smart move to play him in St.Louis. You can't rush groin injuries. Quick was ready to go 2 weeks before he eventually returned. |

Good read Ed. The positivity is welcomed. It was good to see all the old players from the Cup team. A good group of guys. It was good to see Brian Burke too. Dude's a closer.
Tempers have flared. Kesler looks irate. Power play to start the second! |

Are the Kings going to miss the playoffs....again? lol
If they do, they'll have exactly one playoff win in the last three years. Not one playoff series, one playoff game. |

Best game by far for # 10 - speed was good / engaged / finished / - caps were tired but hey so we're Ducks on Friday & this was 3 in 4 for Ducks also w/ a long flight also... if they play that way every night they can go as far as they want - AV back was & is a huge boost - he looked great - Bern with a another very solid outing - all around a great team victory - |

Still jealous Ducks got the first one. Even after all these years.
Kings have 2 Cups in 50 years. Wow. We have another 27 years to match that record.

Only blemish last night was the fact Gibson wasn't even the backup. Lower body, day to day means squat right now. Tell us if it's related to his previous injury. If it's groin (fair assumption), and it was tweaked in the St. Louis game, then this might be really problematic going forward. Carlyle said it was up to him to say when he was ready. Obviously he wasn't. Hopefully lesson learned?

When Bernier gets consistent playing time in of the Ducks defense he looks solid. Probably a top 3 backup in the league who can still start for teams. Ducks looked good last night, but played a tired Caps team on back 2 back on a special night for the Ducks. That's no easy task regardless. Lets see if they can actually win 2 in a row instead of just sucking every other game. No time for let up with all the teams fighting for home ice. |

We've waited and waited for a period like that. The Ducks finally found "it" in the second, and were able to carry it through the third. This group was prepared, which'll hopefully foreshadow what this coaching staff brings to the table from a scouting standpoint for the playoffs. The way I see it, the Capitals have been running a two stage offense. The first stage is high in the zone movement to create confusion that results in a missed assignment. Next, is a team convergence towards the goal where the contingency/catalyst is having the opposition's defensemen, and their goalie for that matter, get puck focused so it's just a matter of a couple, set, cross-ice passes. Anaheim countered this by fighting through the first stage and not making things easy. Good job by the wingers. Next, when assignments were missed, the other players did a good job of clogging up the center of the ice. By the half way point in the third Washington looked like a discouraged group.
Carlyle the Architect continues to make tweaks. I think Ritchie-Vermette-Perry could really get going. With the addition of Eaves, I think everyone was looking forward to seeing Perry work with a bit more offensive center. Nevertheless, Thompson's been effective out there, and it's nice to have some maturity centering the fourth line. Thompson has a lot left in the tank, but given his injuries and that this is a contract year, he's playing to prove himself.
I thought the organization did really well with the 10 year anniversary celebration. More so, I think it was good for Perry and Getzlaf to maybe get some different perspective before this run starts. |

No need to be jealous. It's OK. Don't worry about it.
Nice pressure win against St. Louis last night by the way. NOT.

LA's playoff hopes continue to dwindle. Dean Lombardi has made some good moves, but between the Lucic trade and being buyers when they're on the outside looking in is something else. No wonder LA is the home of la-la land. |
